Ask Me Anything
(No, really . . . I want you to!)
My friends, I don't have to tell you that there’s no shortage of nutrition advice out there.
TikTok trends, podcasts interviewing biohackers, articles your friend’s cousin forwarded from 2013… it’s a lot.
And if you’ve ever thought, "Should I be doing that too?" . . . you’re not alone.
The internet is loud.
One minute it’s “eat more protein,” the next it’s “meat is toxic.”
Someone’s putting butter in their coffee, someone else is living off celery juice, and your For You Page or your Google Feed now thinks you need to carbo-load, fast, completely give up sugar, go keto, and never eat after 7pm.
ALL. AT. ONCE.
So today, I’m answering a few questions people actually ask (or secretly Google at 11pm).
Then it’s your turn.
Q: “Are eggs healthy or not?! I feel like the answer changes every year.”
Ah yes, the humble egg. First it was perfect protein. Then it was a cholesterol bomb. Now it’s… trendy again?
Here’s the deal: eggs offer a bit of high-quality protein, B vitamins, choline (for brain health), and several other important nutrients.
And for most people, the cholesterol in eggs doesn’t affect blood cholesterol nearly as much as we once thought. Your overall eating pattern matters more.
Did you know that?
So, unless your doctor says otherwise, eggs = A-OK. Especially when paired with fiber-rich foods like veggies or whole grains.
(Bonus points if you don’t fry them in half a stick of butter.)
Q: “Do I really need to drink that much water?”
Short version? Probably.
Long version? It depends.
Some people need more water than others (thanks to sweat rate and muscle mass, among many other factors).
Some people never drink water and some people are actually OVERhydrated.
The truth is, a lot of us are probably walking around at least a little dehydrated - which may explain some of the tired, headachy, foggy moments.
A good rule of thumb:
Your pee should be pale yellow.
If it’s dark and smells like despair, go grab a glass of water.
(And no, coffee isn't water . . . but it does count toward your fluid intake.)
Q: “Is sugar actually addictive?”
This one’s tricky.
Biologically, sugar lights up the brain’s reward system - but so do lots of pleasurable experiences.
That doesn’t mean it’s addictive in the same way heroin is.
That said, many people feel out of control around sugar. And there’s often more going on under the surface: habits, emotions, restriction, stress, poor sleep.
So while the science doesn't clearly support labeling sugar itself as addictive, your relationship with it absolutely matters.
And yes, it can be improved.
Q: “What’s the healthiest diet?”
This is like asking, “What’s the best pair of shoes?”
Depends on your feet.
And what you’re doing.
And if you hate shoes.
In short, there are lots of healthy ways to eat.
The good news is that most of them have a few things in common:
- More whole foods, fewer ultra-processed ones
- Plenty of plants (fruits, veggies, legumes, nuts)
- Adequate protein
- Enjoyment and sustainability
If you've been around here a while, you know that I don't believe there's any ONE answer or ONE way to eat. And you shouldn't either.
What matters most is eating plenty of real foods that support your health and finding a way of eating that actually works in your life.
Anything that feels rigid, shame-filled, or like you’re becoming a part-time spreadsheet manager is NOT the way to go.
Now it’s your turn.
What’s your big question?
– Something you’ve heard but aren’t sure is true?
– A habit you keep trying to start (or stop)?
– A podcast nugget that made you go “Wait, what?”
Hit reply right now and ask me anything.
I read and respond to every email.
I might also answer your question in a future newsletter. And those little things that are on your mind or in your Google history might help shape a new program I’m designing behind the scenes.
Because you shouldn’t have to sort through all of this by yourself.
Ask me your questions. I’m happy to help.
Thanks for being here,
Kate

Because, let's face it . . . that's pretty much all of us, right?
