Don't have time to be healthy?

Happy Spring, my friends!
Time . . . she is a-flyin'!!

Spring always sounds like a fresh start, right?
The cold, germ-filled winter is behind us and we are heading into springtime bliss . . .

Longer days.
Better weather.
More energy.

And somehow… less time.

Schedules fill up.
Evenings disappear.
Weekends are suddenly chock full.

And if you’ve been thinking, “I want to eat better" or "I want to move more” . . .
well . . . honestly . . .
the pace of life in the springtime can feel like the exact moment that gets pushed again.

Where you and your health stop being a priority.
Again.

And, inevitably, the thought creeps in:
"I’ll get to it when things calm down."

But here’s the problem:
Things don’t really calm down.

They just change shape.

If you're still with me, this is probably very real for you.

You don’t have time to get healthy.
Or prioritize yourself.A
t least, that’s what it feels like.

(and that feeling is absolutely valid, my friend!)

Between work, family, being outside more, and the general chaos of being a human… adding “meal prep” and “workouts” to the list can feel laughable.

Like, sure, I’ll just squeeze in a 60-minute gym session between everything else.
No problem.
🙄

And to be clear - this isn’t just a “you” thing.
You are definitely not alone here.

I see this with clients all the time.
And honestly? I live it too.

There are seasons where life gets full.
Spring just happens to be one of them.

So instead of pretending you suddenly need more time (you don’t), let’s talk about how to work with the time you already have.

Because this isn’t actually about time.
It’s about how we use it.

First: your calendar is already telling the truth

If you want a reality check (a gentle one, I promise), look at your calendar or your screen time.
That’s where your priorities are currently living.

For real.

Your priorities live in what's actually happening in your day-to-day.
Not your intentions.
Not your “spring reset” ideas.
Not the version of you that’s going to magically have more time next month.

Your actual, lived priorities.

And before you spiral - this is not about judgment.
(Remember, you are never allowed to judge yourself while reading this newsletter!)

This is just about awareness.
Because once you can see how your time is being spent, you can start making small, intentional shifts.

Not a full life overhaul.
Just . . . adjustments.

Second: stop trying to do everything at once

This is where most people go off the rails.

Spring hits and suddenly it’s:

  • “I’m going to meal prep everything on Sunday”
  • “I’ll work out 5 days a week”
  • “I’m cleaning out my pantry and starting fresh”

. . . all while still living their same very full life.

And then when it doesn’t stick, they assume the problem is their motivation.

It’s not.

It’s the scope.

If you're doing this, you’re trying to build a new lifestyle in one weekend.

Instead, shrink it.
Way down.
Way, way down.

  • Prep one meal
  • Add one 10-minute walk (bonus points if it’s outside)
  • Improve one part of your breakfast

Does that feel almost too simple?
Good.

That’s the sweet spot.

Because when it's simple, you'll actually repeat it.
And repetition is what creates change.

Third: your “yes” is costing you something

This one can sting a little.
Read it anyway . . .

Spring tends to come with more invitations, more events, more things to say yes to.
And every yes still costs you something.

Time is a fixed resource.
There’s no bonus round.

So if your schedule is packed and life feels too busy,
it’s worth asking:

What am I currently saying yes to…
that’s quietly taking the place of the habits I say I want?

This isn’t about becoming rigid or antisocial.
It’s about recognizing that your time is already spoken for.

And if you want something to change, something has to shift.Even if it’s small.

In fact, it's better if it's small.
Sweet spot, remember?

Fourth: protect the boring stuff

Everyone wants a big, exciting plan.
Everyone wants to jump in with both feet and get healthy . . . NOW.

It's tempting, I know.
But when those thoughts creep in . . .
when you want to do a total overhaul . . .

Do yourself a favor and remember this:
Health is built in the boring, repeatable stuff.

The 10-minute walk.
The simple lunch.
The glass of water you didn’t forget this time.

These things don’t feel impressive.
But they’re the reason things work.

So instead of waiting for a perfect, uninterrupted hour (which may never come), start protecting the small pockets of time you do have.

They count more than you think.

We only get 24 hours in a day.

And no, it’s not always enough to do everything.

But it is enough to do something.

And that’s usually where real change starts.
You don't need a full life reset.
Or a perfect “spring routine.”

Start with a small decision that actually fits into your real, messy, already-full life.

If you want to take this one step further, ask yourself:

What’s one small habit I could realistically fit into my current schedule… without blowing everything up?

Start there.
Then let it grow.

Thanks for reading!
Til next time,
Kate
